Uh... most people just got cornered by Shadows during the Dark Hour? You can't stay active during it if you don't have the potential to awaken your Persona, so the fear brought them out.

I awakened Orpheus with an Evoker about a year ago... and Thanatos was shoved into me when I was six.

Uh... Okay, that's different. So, when I got my Persona, it was because I was confronted by my Shadow in the TV World. I had to accept it, literally face myself. Once I did that, my Shadow merged with me and it became my Persona. The tarot card came out then too.
