huh...never knew it could happen
it is a mystery indeed.
oh...someone like goro who was opposed to you?
well bad example, but you get the idea
[Then about a minute later.]
who was your first persona? was it thanatos?
no subject
thats a complicated question
no subject
im coming over and bringing food and you cant say no
[A minute later.]
where do you live?
[the flaw in his plan]

minako just texts him an apartment number and munches on a leftover croquette from her triple moon cooking spree, scritching koromaru's neck. ]

Evening.
[There's a mischievous smile upon his face after all of that.]
no subject
Evening. Plenty of leftovers here if you wanna mix it up a little, too... baked sweets, croquettes, menchikatsu, fried chicken, you name it. [ she chews on the inside of her lip, thinking, as she clears a space on the counter for him to set up. ] So... the first time I used an Evoker, Orpheus answered my call.
[ a sort of tortured way of pointedly not saying orpheus was her first persona. and even then, she has to imagine orpheus sets off some alarm bells if he knows his greek mythology at all. ]

Orpheus...
[He knows a little from what he has read, mostly due to wanting to learn about his friend's Personas and Prometheus.]
I think I remember him a bit. He went down to the underworld, right?
[But that is a strange wording.]
But he wasn't...you?
no subject
That's the one. And no, Orpheus was... she's me. When I completed all of my social links, she came back out of the Sea of Souls, better than ever--you saw her the first time we met, actually? But...
Turns out, fun fact, that Death had been sealed in my head. Since I was six. [ ssssssip. ] Thanatos clawed his way out of Orpheus, ripped the Shadow attacking our dorm apart, then Orpheus went back to normal.
no subject
Uhhh...[How do you even respond to that?]...somehow that explains a lot, and yet so little.
no subject
Isn't that always how this stuff works? [ she grins. ] Oh, right...
So, Velvet Room guests--we all sign a contract, right? Mine, uh... wasn't with Igor, but... do you mind if I ask what yours was about?
[ she has a sneaking suspicion that the terms she agreed to are uh. wildly irregular. ]
no subject
[SO MANY.]
I don't know what my contract with the Velvet Room was, just that I had one...I did one with Arsene so he could lend me his power, but Yaldabaoth claimed he was rehabilitating me, that the state or the room was a reflection of my own state in my heart. I was in a Velvet Jail and dressed up as a prisoner, my arms chained together, with a ball and chain tied to my legs. I'm sure a lot of it was true, but he was trying to control me.

Mine was... [ with pharos, with ryoji ] with Death, but I didn't know it back then. I was... manipulated? Into going back to Iwatodai, because reasons, and when I got to the dorm... the part of Death in my head was there waiting. In the form of a boy who was... also kinda dressed like a prisoner?
He gave me a contract to sign. I didn't even question it. It just said... "Time never waits. It delivers all equally to the same end. I agree to the statement above, and I chooseth this fate of mine own free will." [ she takes a breath. ] That was my Velvet Room contract. Igor had it later and everything.
A contract with your Persona, though... that's new. Akechi-kun told me a little bit about it? Like it's a rebel's soul or something, facing yourself... I mean, I know Personas and Shadows are the same thing, but we never had to do anything like that. [ welp. ] Some people just had the potential, and if they thought they might die during the Dark Hour, or used an Evoker, they'd awaken. I hear Orpheus and the others talking to me, sometimes, but...
[ nothing like a contract. ]
no subject
[That IS pretty confusing. But those contract words, they'd sound almost downright sinister if he didn't understand a little more about how the Velvet Room operated...and also because he knew of her fate.]
So signing the contract is what caused Thanatos to manifest?
[Because in a weird way it is kinda like that, even if Orpheus was her main persona. At least, Ren seems to think that way.]
When we ended up in our volleyball teacher's palace...his shadow tried to kill Ryuji. That's when my Persona manifested. He said he would give me power to fight back if I accepted.
[He looks back at her.]
How does the Evoker work? Would I be able to use one?
no subject
[ she presses her lips together, thinking before sipping at that drink ren brought. ] But... hmmm, no, I don't think that's what it was. Not really. My awakening let him manifest--he was just a Shadow who was along for the ride. Plus the Shadow attacking the dorm was part of him, so if it was destroyed, Death would reabsorb it. I couldn't control Thanatos back then, anyway, and that... didn't happen again. I had to fuse him way later, and by then, Death was free anyway.
[ at that, she pauses. ]
But I mean... you could probably use one? The Evokers... I'm not really good with the tech part of it, but they stimulate the fear of death in the brain, I guess? They don't have to be guns, Koromaru's was a collar and Aigis's was built-in...
[ wait what did she just imply--no too late moving on ]
If you have a Persona that's not gonna take up the whole room, you wanna try it? [ and she pulls her evoker, holding it out with the grip facing him. ]
